Ganguly turns 50
The BCCI president celebrated his birthday at a dinner in London along with Sachin Tendulkar

Sourav Ganguly, the former India captain and current BCCI president, turned 50 on July 8. He celebrated the occasion in England, at a dinner where former team-mate Sachin Tendulkar, BCCI secretary Jay Shah and BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla were in attendance.
Wishes for Ganguly came pouring in on social media from his former team-mates. Tendulkar told a curious story about always having called Ganguly 'Dadi' instead of 'Dada', as he is commonly known, since he met him at a camp in Indore when they were young. Meanwhile, Yuvraj Singh and Mohammed Kaif, who both came into the Indian side under Ganguly's captaincy, credited him as a mentor. Dinesh Karthik, who debuted under Ganguly in 2004, called him a man who "changed Indian cricket forever".
Several current India cricketers also added their tributes on Ganguly's 50th birthday, acknowledging the inspiration he was for younger generations.
