The South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) has announced a twelve-man squad to compete in South Australia's first Cricket Australia Cup match of the season.
South Australia plays Victoria from October 7 to October 10 on Adelaide Oval no. 2 in what will be the first State level outing of the season for players.
Redbacks coach Wayne Phillips said at the early part of the season it's an ideal opportunity for some of the players to have a good, strong hit out against quality opposition.
"This kind of match practice is in keeping with our preparation for the first game against WA later this month. The Redbacks are looking to finalise positions for that team, which will travel to Perth, and this will give selectors the perfect opportunity in the lead up to selection time."
The South Australia squad, which is coached by Redbacks assistant coach, Jamie Siddons, is:
Chris Davies (captain) | Callum Ferguson |
Ben Cameron | Ben Johnson |
Mark Cosgrove | Trent Kelly |
Daniel Cullen | Paul Rofe |
Shane Deitz | Shaun Tait |
Chris Duval | Jeff Vaughan |
The Cricket Australia Cup is a tournament for each State's second XI team to gain quality match practice throughout the season. Each State, including the ACT, plays each other once throughout the season.
South Australia's selections are not only Redbacks squad members but also include those players who perform outstandingly in the A Grade competition.
