Ranatunga to prove their worth at WSC
Sri Lanka captain Arjuna Ranatunga said they will prove their
worth in the World Series Cup limited over tournament which
starts in Adelaide on Friday. Ranatunga said the itinerary does
not permit them to adjust themselves from limited over cricket to
the established game. But a confident Sri Lankan skipper promised
to spring a surprise at the three-nation tournament which will be
worked off between Sri Lanka`s second and Third Tests against
Australia. Sri Lanka meets the West Indies in the `curtain
raiser` under lights at Adelaide.
Jayasuriya in Sri Lanka team ?
All-rounder Sanath Jayasuriya will be included in the Sri Lanka
team for their opening World Series Cup match against the West
Indies to be played at the Adelaide Oval on Friday, team sources
said today. Jayasuriya who did not get a chance to play in the
first Test against Australia, will be recalled to the team for
the two World Series Cup matches against the West Indies and Australia which will be played before the Second Test. With regular
opener Chandika Haturusinghe failing to impress in the first
Test, Jayasuriya has a good chance of playing in the second Test
if he performs well in the two limited over games.
