Thomians 76/9 dec. Petes 124 for 8
Richard Dwight
The ball held sway over the bat in the Thomian-Peterite cricket
encounter for S . Thomas' to be spun out to declare at 76 for 9
towards which St. Peter's were 124 for 8 in an evenly poised game
which began at Bambalapitiya yesterday.
The Peterites having sent the Thomians to bat made short work of
their batting to have them in the hopeless position of 76 for 9
declared. Left arm spinner Chrishantha Peiris bowled well again to
have the impressive figures of 5 for 12. The Thomians did well to
rest the last initiative through paceman Lakmal Fernando (3 for 9) to
have the Peterites struggling at 35 for 5. But a sixth wicket
partnership between Gavin Lodewyke and Jehan Jayasuriya which
realised 41 runs and a hard hit 36 not out by M. Silva got St.
Peter's to 124 for 8.
