Zahira College, Gampola set up a new record for school cricket in the
Central Province when they hit up a massive 512 for 6 declared in
their inter-school cricket match against Galagedera Central College
which they won by an innings and 307 runs at Zahira grounds, Gampola.
Zahira College who revived senior cricket after a lapse of a few
years are going great guns this season, having earlier hit up a huge
score of 403 for 9 declared against Ginigathena Central College. This
score of 512 for 6 declared is the highest in school cricket in the
Central Province beating the 505 scored by Aluthgama Vidyalaya
against Sri Sumangala College at Police grounds, Kandy about three
years ago.
This total of 512 could be also the highest in school cricket this
season.
Mohammed Inshaf could well carve his name into the history books as
this is his first season in school cricket and scored a double ton on
the first occasion he went past the half century mark during his
innings of 237 which included 34 fours and stayed at the crease for
368 minutes. Aggressive bat Mohammed Ramees in his usual flamboyant
style scored a hurricane 80 with six towering sixes and five fours.

37, S. Asanka 28, A. Riyas 4 for 14, M. Hafees 2 for 18, S. M.
Thushara 2 for 26) and 94 all out in 33.2 overs (T. Upul 37, S.
Asanka 40, A.Riyas 3 for 19, S. M. Thushara 4 for 33, M. Hafees 2 for
23).
Zahira College, Gampola 512 for 6 decl. in 113 overs (M. M. Rifaz 52,
I. M. Inshaff 237, S. M. Thushara 63, M. M. M. Rameez 80, M. Rizwan
24, S. Bahardeen 40 not out, S. Asanka 3 for 66).
