Jurangpathy going great guns in Australia
Former Sri Lanka Test cricketer Roshan Jurangpathy has won promotion to the Western Australian state squad where according to the
Australian cricket magazine `Inside Edge`, "his off breaks and
lusty hitting are under scrutiny".
Jurangpathy`s 40 wickets and 402 runs at 33.50 last summer for
North Perth has won him selection to the state squad. "I was a
baby when I played Test cricket alongside the likes of De Silva,
Gurusinha and Ranatunga. I`m definitely much more mature and a
better player today," Jurangpathy told the magazine."WA is a
great place and has opened up a new life for me, but the Sri Lankans will still have somewhere to go for home cooking in Perth
next month," said Jurangpathy who represented his country in two
Tests against India in 1985-86.
Mendis happy with his bowlers
Sri Lanka team Manager, Duleep Mendis said that he is happy with
his team`s bowling which has settled down before the three-Test
series against Australia which starts on December 8.
Mendis claimed the margin of victory at yesterday`s limited over
game (which his team won on a faster run rate) against Queensland
did not reflect his team`s dominance after successive losses to
Queensland in a limited overs game and a four-day match last
week. But Mendis said that there are`still a few things to do`.
Sri Lanka meets Tasmania in a four-day game, their last warm up
match before the first Test against Australia in Perth, starts on
Friday in Launceston.

qualify for the World Cup competition which will be held jointly
in Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka from February 11 - March 17 next
year. The `A` sides of the three host World Cup nations along
