The Super Strikers reversed last weekend's result against The Knight Riders to leave both teams level at the top of The Super Fours table, at the competition's half way stage.
Newton herself led the Strikers chase opening the batting and scoring 71, including 8 fours, in a first wicket partnership worth 118 with Hannah Lloyd reaching 37. The Strikers looked comfortable chasing 139, but lost five wickets in quick succession, including that of Captain, Claire Taylor, before Sarah Clarke secured the winning runs.
The Knight Riders were unfortunate not to take a seventh wicket in a thrilling finale to the match when Nanalal took what looked like a superb caught and bowled chance, but the appeal was turned down.
The V Team have yet to record a win in the competition as they were beaten by 6 wickets by Clare Connor's The Braves. Connor took 4-12 from her ten overs, and three catches including a caught and bowled to restrict the V Team to a disappointing 88. England batters Kathryn Leng and Arran Thompson opening the innings were dismissed cheaply and The V Team could not recover. The result leaves The Braves in third position.
The teams meet again on Sunday 15th June at The Boots Ground and Caythorpe Cricket Club in Nottingham for the penultimate round of Super Fours in Oxford the following weekend.
