Graeme Swann and Mark Wagh, against his former county, guided Nottinghamshire to a handsome six-wicket win against Warwickshire with more than eight overs to spare. The pair added 108 for the second wicket as the visitors comfortably chased 192.

Swann's innings was a destructive effort as he clubbed 11 fours and three sixes in his 53-ball 80. Wagh produced a more sedate performance, carrying his new side to the brink of victory before falling with 17 runs needed. Samit Patel completed the final stages of the chase alongside Chris Read.

Wagh had earlier been involved in a fine piece of fielding during the Warwickshire innings. Tim Groenewald launched Rob Ferley out to deep midwicket and Wagh was within inches of the boundary when he held on. However, his momentum was forcing him over the rope and when he realised this he tossed the ball up before regaining his balance and grabbing the ball a second time.

Warwickshire fell away after building a solid platform of 153 for 4. Darren Maddy impressed with a 51-ball 56, but left-arm spinner Ferley bagged Tim Ambrose (43) through a misjudged sweep and Alex Loudon during a fine eight-over spell.

This was the first Pro40 Division One match to be completed in a competition that has been badly hit by the poor weather.
