The assisted hokey pokey

The mad-cap tag-team effort from Tim Southee and Karun Nair will perhaps stand as the most enduring image of IPL 2015. With Kings XI Punjab needing 32 off 7 balls, George Bailey launched James Faulkner into the Pune night sky. Southee went as far back on the long-on boundary as he could, leapt up, plucked it out with his right hand. Even as the momentum carried him over the ropes, Southee kept his cool and flicked it over to Karun Nair, who had beetled off to his left from deep midwicket, closing in on Southee's sight. Karun flung low to his right and grabbed it on the rebound for a stunner; a catch for archived viewing.

Bravo, the rubber man

Royal Challengers Bangalore were cruising at 93 for 3 in 13 overs in pursuit of 149. That's when Dwayne Bravo was brought back and he decisively tipped the game Super Kings' favour by running Virat Kohli out of his own bowling. Bravo nailed one in the blockhole, which was jammed onto the ground. He jumped in his followthrough, stopped the ball with his right hand and fired a direct hit to catch Kohli inches short. Bravo was at it one game later in Chennai when he moved to his left from long-on, jumped and landed with the ball stuck in his right hand, intercepting what was destined to be a certain six from Shane Watson. Bravo capped it off with a typical jig, which culminated in a celebratory sprint towards long-off.

Faf du Plessis flick

In the first over of the final, Parthiv Patel nudged a Nehra ball towards mid-on and set off in search of a single. Faf du Plessis charged in and attacked the ball, getting side on with the stumps at the non-strikers', despite losing his balance. He under-arm flicked the ball and lobbed it onto the stumps to send Parthiv back for a duck. It wasn't to be Faf's only heroic contribution on the field. He had showed off his agility when he back-pedalled from mid-off, falling backwards, throwing his right hand up and snaffling an overhead catch to seal the fate of Manvinder Bisla in Bangalore.

Agarwal's presence of mind

Mayank Agarwal managed only one run with the bat against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Visakhapatnam, but stepped up in the field, clinching the game for Daredevils. The equation read seven off two balls when Karn Sharma sliced Nathan Coulter-Nile over backward point. It appeared to go over the ropes until Agarwal intervened - he leapt up and swatted the ball back into the field of play. Karn had to settle with only two before holing out of to long-off off the final ball.

Simmons special(s)

After two dropped catches that left Mitchell McClenaghan fuming, Lendl Simmons flew to his left at short third man and completed a superb catch to get rid of Chris Gayle off a Lasith Malinga offcutter at the Wankhede stadium. Simmons had held onto an equally sharp catch earlier against Delhi Daredevils when he leapt high to his right, completing a one-hander at backward point. While Yuvraj Singh couldn't believe it, Jonty Rhodes, the Mumbai Indians fielding coach, lustily applauded Simmons' reflexes.
