Announcement

On Sunday December 15th a new cricket club (The Udayana CC) was inaugurated at a meeting of over 50 people in the meeting rooms of Udayana eco Lodge, Jimbaran, Bali. This club, which has replaced The Jimbaran CC as Udayana was a famous Balinese king whereas Jimbaran is a location name. The club is under the umbrella of THE BALI INTERNATIONAL CRICKET FOUNDATION which was formed in 1995. The new club is unique in many aspects.

  • It is the first cricket club ever organized by and for the Indonesian people (see details of Boards below).
  • It is the first cricket organisation in Indonesia to be recognized by KONI (The Indonesian Government Department of Sport). The Head of KONI (Denpasar) is on the Board of Trustees.
  • The club has developed within the Bali International Cricket Foundation (BICF) and is part of the national development program for Indonesia as initiated by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
  • Its headquarters are at Udayana eco Lodge (see www.ecolodgesindonesia.com) with access to good accommodation, restaurant, bar and swimming pool facilities. However the main attraction to visiting cricket teams are access to four nets and a cricket oval (the same size as The Adelaide oval) in the Lodge 35 ha complex, the only protected eco area in the Nusa Dua area of Bali.
  • Udayana eco Lodge also hosts the national cricket training center where the national schools cricket training program is planned and executed. Key trainers are based at the Lodge and are also key executives in the Udayana cricket club.

The club trains regularly and currently has two teams, an adult one that holds the Bali League Trophy 2002 and an Under 15 who also won the 2002 area league in Bali for U15s. There are four kinds of member, namely, Foundation (Rp 200,000/a), Adult playing (Rp 25,000/a), Social (Rp 50,000/a) and Junior (under 18 - Rp 5,000/a). Foundation membership is open to anyone in the world and will close on February 28th 2003. Enquiries re Foundation Membership please contact Gede Ori at email iaeup@denpasar.wasantara.net.id

The best way to help us is to play against us in tournaments (eg Bali Sixes in April 2003) or by arranging a touring team to play with us. The impact of cricketers from other locations in Indonesia and other countries cannot be underestimated. Also income so derived helps support the national development of the game.
