Franco Nsubuga struck 64 to rescue Uganda by steering them to 225 for 9 on the first day of the latest round of Intercontinental Cup matches at Lugogo. Namibia will be pleased with their day's work after Gerrie Snyman took 3 for 45 to check Uganda's progress.

Uganda were regretting their decision to bat as they wobbled to 9 for 2, with Lawrence Sematimba (3) and Benjamin Musoke (0) soon back in the pavilion. Wickets tumbled steadily, and they were unsettled by a rain delay four overs after lunch: when play resumed at 4pm, Junior Kwebiha was trapped lbw by Sarel Burger when well set on 30. Nsubuga shared a stand of 47 with Kenneth Kamyuka (12) and then the tailenders Emmanuel Issaneez and Charles Wiaswa posted a rearguard partnership of 43 which was unbeaten by the time bad light brought an early close.
