Twenty six of the best young cricketers are attending the largest West
Indies Cricket Board (WICB) specialist coaching camp in Antigua.
Batting, fast bowling and wicket-keeping are the specialised
disciplines under the supervision of former Test players Gordon
Greenidge, Andy Roberts and David Williams.
The physical trainer is Evans Jawkie Jones, an IAAF coach and lecturer
from Antigua.
The camp, which started on Tuesday and runs until July 25, is catering
to nine batsmen, nine fast bowlers and eight-wicket-keepers.
Many were part of the West Indies team which took part in the Youth
World Cup in Sri Lanka earlier this year.
It is a large group, but there are three modules which will be
combined from time to time, said WICB director of coaching Reg
Scarlett.
I am confident that the total input from these three coaches through
the resulting overlap will greatly benefit all the participants in
their development as prospective West Indies cricketers.
The next specialist camp will be for spin bowlers. It will be held in
Antigua at the end of August.
