Defending Cable and Wireless BET Under-15 champions Deighton
Griffith have finished their preliminary matches and might be in
line for a place in this year's final.
The points are still being tallied by the Barbados Cricket
Association, but Deighton Griffith finished on an unofficial 41
points after an innings and 40-run victory over lowly Alma
Parris yesterday.
Their nearest opponents in Zone B were Harrison College but no
scores were sent in from their match against The St. Michael
School yesterday.
Deighton Griffith have drawn a bye for the final zonal round of
matches on Tuesday and Wednesday and will await confirmation of
a place in the final September 7-9.
Deighton Griffith captain, Stephen Byer, who scored a match-high
52 in the win over Alma Parris, said it was a team effort.
"Everybody helped."
In Zone A, the contest for the final place is among Alexandra,
unofficially on 51 points, Garrison on 50, and St. Leonard's on
46. Garrison are reported to have protested the pitch
preparation in the match against St. Lucy when they gained one
point.
Four wickets
While bowlers were in the ascendancy yesterday, one performance
stood out. Medium-pacer Stephen Holder of Garrison took four
wickets off successive balls in his team's seven-wicket victory
over Louis Lynch.
Alexandra's Kirk Brome took his total haul of wickets to 52 with
nine for 33 in the drawn match against Queen's College.
St. Leonard's were held up by Tristan Norville's 90 that gave
Grantley Adams first innings points.
