Yuvraj Singh turned in his second consecutive Man-of-the-Match performance to take India to a five-wicket win over Netherlands in Delhi. India had a slight wobble after Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag had provided a blazing start, and were at a slightly sticky 99 for 4 when Yuvraj walked in.
He wasn't at his best on a sluggish track at Feroz Shah Kotla, and he didn't play in his usual aggressive manner, taking his time to get his eye in. He first stitched a stabilising stand with Gautam Gambhir, adding 40 runs to put India back on course. Then, once Gambhir was bowled round his legs, he combined with the MS Dhoni, with whom he has finished off plenty of games in the past, to blunt Netherlands and take India to victory with more than 13 overs to spare. It was Yuvraj's third successive half-century, and will be a huge boost to his confidence after a horror 2010, when he was briefly dropped from the one-day side due to a lack of form and fitness.
It wasn't just with the bat that he contributed, his accurate left-arm spin, which fetched him five wickets against Ireland did the job on Wednesday as well. His wicket-to-wicket bowling got Wesley Barresi lbw, ending a stubborn innings from the opener. He continuously troubled the batsmen, and put Netherlands on the backfoot by removing their best batsman, Ryan ten Doeschate, for 11 to show he can ably fill in the fifth bowler's spot.
