Already weakened by retirements and domestic turmoil at home, Zimbabwe are now sweating on the fitness of their captain, Heath Streak, after he withdrew from the tour match against Worcestershire.
Streak strained his back after bowling two overs on the first day of the game, and failed to appear at all today . "He's got a bit of a back problem," explained Geoff Marsh, Zimbabwe's coach. "I don't think he's likely to play much of a part in the rest of the game which is a big disappointment for us."
Streak has one more chance to prove his fitness before the first Test at Lord's which starts on May 22, when Zimbabwe take on Sussex next week. "He's done quite a bit of bowling before we came to England so he doesn't really need the practice and we'll be monitoring him over the next few days," Marsh said. "He's always had aches and strains with his knees and his back and we're hopeful this will be another twinge. He should be back sooner rather than later."
