Cranleigh was founded in 1865 as the Surrey County School and cricket has always been at the forefront of its sport. From 1866 until 1923 the school shared the renowned village green with the local club, but from 1924 all matches have been played on the picturesque Jubilee ground.

In 2004 the school underlined it commitment to becoming a leading cricket school with the appointment of former MCC coach Stuart Welch. That investment almost immediately reaped dividends when the school enjoyed its best season in 2006, winning 12 and drawing three matches.
