Tasmania's in-form opener Rhett Lockyear has been ruled out of their FR Cup match against South Australia due to a tear to the cartilage in his right knee. Lockyear suffered the problem during the exhibition Twenty20 match at the Gabba on Sunday night
However, Gerard Denton, the fast bowler, is back in the squad for Sunday's game at Bellerive Oval after being sidelined with a fractured thumb. The Tigers have also decided that Travis Birt, who is only an occasional wicketkeeper, will retain the gloves after a solid performance in the previous match.
The batsman Wade Irvine is also in line for a possible state debut having been named in the 12-man squad. Tasmania are fourth on the competition table with two wins from four games, while South Australia are all but out of the running already with four losses from their four outings.
The Redbacks have gained Mark Cosgrove, who missed their previous game with a hamstring problem, and the fast bowler Chris Duval. Peter George, who took 11 wickets in the Sheffield Shield match during the week, missed out, while Kane Richardson and Dan Cullen also made way.
Tasmania squad Ed Cowan, Michael Dighton, Wade Irvine, Travis Birt (wk), George Bailey (capt), Luke Butterworth, James Faulkner, Brett Geeves, Jason Krejza, Xavier Doherty, Brendan Drew, Gerard Denton.
South Australia squad Michael Klinger, Daniel Harris, Tom Cooper, Mark Cosgrove, Cameron Borgas, Daniel Christian, Aaron O'Brien, Graham Manou (capt, wk), Matthew Weeks, Chris Duval, Shaun Tait, Jake Haberfield.
