ALICE SPRINGS, NT, Nov 14 AAP - West Indian captain Jimmy Adams took three
wickets with his left-arm tweakers to help the tourists to a comfortable
57-run win over the Northern Territory Invitation XI in Alice Springs today.
Adams (3-32) claimed the scalps of Michael Di Venuto (52), Shaun Williams
(40) and Brad Hodge (nine) as the home team scored 9-202 from its 50 overs
in reply to the Windies' total of 6-259.
The dismissal of captain Ricky Ponting (26 from 30 balls) spelled the end
for the Northern Territory team after they had fallen behind the run rate
following a tight Windies bowling display.
Veteran Courtney Walsh bowled his first spell on tour, conceding just four
runs from six overs with the new ball.
The home team's remote chances of victory ended with a collapse of 4-3 in
the final overs.
The Windies head to Melbourne tomorrow for a four-day match against
Victoria, starting Friday at the MCG.
