Karachi Dolphins batsman Rameez Raja jnr, who was the top scorer in the recently-concluded Faysal Bank Super Eight T-20 Cup, has earned praise from a former national selector and his Karachi coach for his performance, with calls for his inclusion in the national side.

"Rameez is ready to represent Pakistan and this is the best time that he is put in the team, as he is going through a purple patch," Shoaib Mohammad, a former national selector, told the News on Sunday.

"His consistent performances show that his batting displays are no fluke and he has the potential to excel," Mohammad said. "Now the selectors should induct him to test his mettle."

Rameez made 238 runs from five games at a strike-rate of 159.73 with two half-centuries, outscoring his team-mates Asad Shafiq, Shahzaib Hasan and Fawad Alam, who have already made their international debuts. Earlier this year, he was also the top-scorer in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Division One, with 801 runs from 11 games, including two centuries and five half-centuries.

Karachi coach Azam Khan said Rameez's performances were a reflection of his ability. "His performances speak for his talent and potential and he doesn't need anyone's support to break into the national side," Khan said. "He was superb throughout and never showed any signs of nerves. He is suitable for all three formats."

@ mso797 - I meant the 2 teams in the Finals (Rawalpindi Rams & Karachi Dolphins)

I think Shoaib should not get impressed by single tournament performance.Instead we should be based on merits and not on linkage to test cricketers like him and i.e Imran farhat,Faisal Iqbal etc.If we base selection on merit there is no reason we should be away from being top nation in the world.

this is whats wrong, a few good performances in the domestic raises expectations of selectors and when these guys cant deliver in internationals, they end up being kicked out for long time. Already seens people like shahzaib hasan, umar amin, ahmed shehzad etc. Not to forget a legend of domestic circuit called hasan raza. First pcb must train these guys psychologically because playing international is much much different from playing domestic. Talent may get you selected, but its the attitude you need to justify that selection!

i havent watched him myself but according to the media and because he was the top scorer in the league then he should be given a chance on the tour of zimbabwe and in UAE.

He is really class act just like sharjeel khan, ali khan(Sialkot Stallions),raza hassan, sohail khan.and also we able to find one really hard hitting wicket keeper from Rawalpindi rams may be his name is jaleel anwar,he is true replacement of kamran akmal in ODI and T20.sarfraz ahmed is ok but not fit for T 20. still i think we lack fast bowlers.other than sohail khan nobody was impressive.sohail khan is far better than tanvir ahmed, junaid khan but i do not know why the selectors did not give him chance again after test match against sri lanka in karachi.Sohail tanvir is really good allrounder but still he need to work on his bowling.his bowling was ordinary against new Zealand.
