The Eden Gardens in Kolkata has been confirmed as the venue for the first one-dayer between India and Sri Lanka on February 8. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated that it will be a day/night encounter.
The match had to be shifted out of Pune's Nehru Stadium as the Maharashtra Cricket Association was facing problems with the local corporation which owns the ground.
"In view of the development, the Tour Programmes and Fixtures Committee of the BCCI has allotted the match to the Cricket Association of Bengal , which is the next venue as per the rotation policy of the BCCI," said Ratnakar Shetty, the BCCI's Chief Administrative Officer.
Shetty stated that Sri Lanka will land in Mumbai on February 2 and play a warm-up game on February 5 at Mumbai's Bandra-Kurla Complex before leaving for Kolkata the next morning.
"The match would be played between the Lankans and a team comprising players of Mumbai who are not in the team for the Ranji Trophy final," Shetty told PTI. Mumbai face Bengal in the final starting February 6 at the Wankhede Stadium.
