Karachi Blues chose to bat against State Bank of Pakistan at National Stadium in Karachi and were reduced to 100 for 6, before a solid performance from the tail carried them to 253. Javed Mansoor and Sohail Khan scored half-centuries, and Mohammad Sami played the support role with 44, but State Bank of Pakistan's Hasan Mahmood was the day's star - he almost singlehandedly ran through Karachi Blues with his left-arm spin, and finished with figures of 6 for 88. State Bank of Pakistan were off to a poor start in their innings, losing two wickets for 23 runs in the seven overs they played out before stumps.
Sialkot put on a steady batting performance against Habib Bank Limited, going to stumps 253 for 5 at the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot. Their began poorly after being asked to bat, slipping to 19 for 3, before the innings was rebuilt around a patient 89 from opener Mohammad Yasin and an unbeaten 105 from Mohammad Ayub. Kamran Hussain, a left-arm quick, was the pick of the Habib Bank Limited bowlers - he bowled Majid Jahangir and captain Mansoor Amjad for ducks, and finished day one with figures of 4 for 60.
After being asked to bat by Rawalpindi, National Bank of Pakistan folded for 153 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Only Khurram Manzoor and Fawad Alam managed to make sizeable contributions, Alam top scoring with 51, as left-arm medium pacer Nasir Malik ripped through the order. Malik finished with 7 for 42, his best first-class figures for an innings. Rawalpindi then batted 14 overs, going to stumps on 41 for 1.
Abbottabad's top order laid a solid platform after they were put in to bat by Water and Power Development Authority at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium but late wickets left them at 230 for 7 at the end of the first day. After both openers failed to convert starts, Rameez Ahmed, on first-class debut, scored 56. Abbottabad were in a strong position at 132 for 3 but left-arm seamer Sarfraz Ahmed took two quick wickets and left-arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar dismissed Rameez. Babar picked up a fourth wicket as Abbottabad's innings lost momentum.
Left-arm spinner Zohaib Khan took five wickets as Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited bowled Faisalabad out for 199 on the first day at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad. Before Zohaib ran through the middle order and tail, seamers Mohammad Khalil and Rehan Riaz took two wickets each to rattle Faisalabad. Only Zeeshan Butt, who scored 43, and Abdul Rauf, with his 42, made significant contributions for Faisalabad. In reply, ZTBL got off to a brisk start, and were 75 for 0 by stumps. Sharjeel Khan was aggressive and scored 47 off 44 balls, helping ZTBL go along at 5.76 runs per over.
Only 37.4 overs were possible on the first day at Diamond Club Ground in Islamabad, but Pakistan International Airlines got into a strong position against Islamabad, reaching 144 for 2. Agha Sabir stayed unbeaten on 69 off 113 balls. PIA had been put in to bat, and had a half-century opening stand before Sabir and Sheharyar Ghani put together 85 runs. Ghani was dismissed Afaq Raheem just before play stopped.
