Scorecard
Ireland underlined their dominance of Netherlands with a convincing nine-wicket win achieved with nearly 30 overs to spare, giving them the ODI series 2-0.
Netherlands won the toss, but not much else as their decision to bat came unstuck against Trent Johnston. The openers were back in the pavilion for a combined contribution of three runs and things continued to go downhill from there. Tom Cooper seemed to have come to terms with the conditions, hitting five fours in his 25, but there was no support at the other end. Nigel Jones sent back Wesley Barresi and Bas Zuiderent in the 13th over, and when Cooper followed in the next, Netherlands had lose three wickets at 40, and with those all hopes of leveling the series.
The tail fared better than the top order, with Pieter Seelaar holding on for a 62-ball 34. His 37-run eighth-wicket stand with Maurits Jonkman ensured the score reached three-figures before the innings was wrapped for 125.
Paul Stirling was clearly in a hurry to finish off proceedings and went after the Netherlands attack in aggressive fashion. He smacked five sixes and six fours in his 36-ball 62, and by the time he was dismissed in the 11th over, Ireland were within touching distance of victory. The winning runs were struck in the 21st over, without further loss, Gary Wilson finishing unbeaten on 48.
