Scorecard
Michael Klinger and Tom Cooper delivered victory to South Australia over Victoria on the final day at the MCG, where the Redbacks cruised to their target of 180 with seven wickets in hand. Klinger finished unbeaten on 73 when Callum Ferguson (21 not out) struck the winning boundary, completing a match of South Australian dominance that began with them skittling Victoria for 118 on the opening day.
The Victoria tail managed to add 51 on the final morning for the loss of the last two wickets, with Jon Holland (43) and Scott Boland (42) contributing useful runs as the total finished on 404. But the target of 180 meant Victoria still had to run through South Australia's batting order in quick time, and when Phillip Hughes was out for a duck to Clint McKay in the first over the Bushrangers might have had some hope.
Boland picked up the wicket of Travis Head for 12 to leave the Redbacks at 2 for 27, but Klinger and Cooper then settled in for a 122-run stand that delivered South Australia close to victory. Victoria's spinners, Holland (0 for 64) and Fawad Ahmed (0 for 38) had no impact on the fourth-day surface and it was the part-time medium-pacer Rob Quiney who got rid of Cooper for 71, the final wicket for the match.
