Scorecard
Captain Adam Voges scored an unbeaten half-century as Western Australia consolidated their lead over Tasmania on the third day of the Sheffield Shield game in Hobart. After taking a 54-run first-innings advantage, the Warriors moved on to 3 for 173 in their second innings at stumps on day three, with Voges on 61 and Shaun Marsh on 35, and their lead had grown to 227 runs.
The day had started with Tasmania in trouble at 7 for 170 and although there was some tail-end fight - the three highest scorers were Nos.8, 9 and 10 - they still fell short of Western Australia and were dismissed for 247. Ben Hilfenhaus top scored with 39, Sam Rainbird was unbeaten on 35 and Clive Rose made 30, as Western Australia's Simon Mackin finished with 4 for 54.
In their second innings, Western Australia lost both openers within the first eight overs before Voges and first-innings centurion Michael Klinger steadied with a 77-run partnership. Klinger was caught off the bowling of Rainbird for 45, which brought Marsh and Voges together, and by the close of play their partnership had moved along to 65 runs.
