Michael Klinger continued his strong season for Western Australia, scoring an unbeaten half-century to deliver an eight-wicket victory over South Australia on the final day at the WACA. Set 122 to win, the Warriors never appeared in danger of falling short, despite losing both openers, Cameron Bancroft (21) and Marcus Harris (28), to Kane Richardson.

Klinger and Adam Voges ensured Western Australia reached the target with no further loss and it was a fitting end, given that Klinger and Voges set up the win by scoring centuries in the first innings. Klinger remained unbeaten on 51 and Voges had 22, and the win meant Western Australia were at the top of the Sheffield Shield table.

South Australia had started the final day on 4 for 147, but added only 113 for the loss of their last six wickets. Callum Ferguson fell in the eighties for the second time in the game, caught off Nathan Rimmington for 84, and captain Travis Head chipped in with 62. Michael Hogan finished with 4 for 64 for the Warriors.

However, the win came at a cost for Western Australia, with fast bowler Ryan Duffield expected to miss the rest of the summer after breaking his left thumb while batting in the first innings. Duffield was able to return to the field to bowl 14 overs in South Australia's second innings, but is likely to miss the rest of the Shield campaign.
