5.35pm: These two teams have lurched back and forth like two drunken pirates on deck during a storm - after three heavy victories, it would be nice to see a more even contest at Lord's. We'll be back on Saturday to bring you the action but, for now, Alex and myself with say cheerio, leaving the final word to our friend Adam S: "I stand corrected people! Just checked cricinfo again, as an England fan I will be making more such predictions! ;)" Ta ra

5.25pm: Time for the presentations... Angelo Mathews, Sri Lanka captain: "It was difficult, we played some poor shots and the bowlers bowled well. It was a very poor performance. I don't really know what went wrong, the poor shot selection was the main reason we got 67. The wicket did a little bit but it was a disappointing performance. The conditions and the pitches are going to be the main challenge for us, we played well in the second game and we'll need to bounce back. We've got the team to do it, we've showed it the past and we want to stay alive in the series. Hopefully the sun will be out and we get a good game of cricket."

England captain, Alastair Cook: "We did discuss [Durham] of course but it was a really strange game after how we performed at The Oval but we came out firing today. We didn't get it right straight away but Jords really hit them hard. You only have to look at the more established players to see how long it can take to find your feet at international level, so you've got to the give the young guys time. [Anderson] is a world-class performer, it was a hard decision at the toss, so I'm glad they proved me right. [Jordan] has taken to international cricket really well. It was important that me and Belly took control and it was really dark; Belly played really well and you don't often get a 10-wicket win. We do [enjoy playing at Lord's] but so do the opposition and we can't let Sri Lanka come back like we did today."

Chris Jordan is named Man of the Match: "It was just nice to put in a good performance and come up with an emphatic win after how we played at Durham. I didn't think I was too far off in Durham and I just wanted to continue those good things and touch up a couple of bad things. I was a real bang-in bowler, with a heavy length but the last couple of years in county cricket I've bowled a fuller length. It was nice to get the wicket of Sangakkara... We tried to attack because we know wickets stop the opposition from scoring. We'll have to wait and see [about the Tests], I'm just taking it every day as it comes and we'll go to Lord's and do it again."

5.15pm: That six broke a folding chair when it landed up in the stands and Sri Lanka have had a hole punched through them today. This was England's second-quickest chase ever and surely one of the most emphatic ripostes to being dismissed for under 100. It was, of course, a good toss to win (though that didn't help them on Sunday) but James Anderson and Chris Jordan in particular reintroduced Sri Lanka to the devil of batting in England in springtime. Knocking off the requirement at a run-a-ball was pretty convincing, too, though it means the citizens of Manchester have only had 36 overs of cricket for their hard-earned dollar-pounds... Peter Moores will certainly have enjoyed the day back at his old workplace and, as a couple of you have pointed out, this also takes Alastair Cook to 33 ODI wins as England captain, head of the class.

Herath to Bell, SIX runs

Bell wins it with a six, launches the ball down the ground and punches the air - England win by 10 wickets! They've exorcised the ghost of Lumley Castle, stuck a flake in their 99 and strolled to a 2-1 series lead in between the Manchester showers

full and Cook leans out to steer a drive wide of mid-on, where Malinga gives a token effort at stopping the ball low to his left - don't think he fancied muddying his knees for that - and the scores are level

Adam, they're asking for you again... "I just seen the scorecard and wow 67 all out," says VPS. "It just remind me earlier comment when Srilanka was 3 down saying England would panic in that position and all out under 100 while Srilanka wouldn't and get score to 200. Is that fellow watching now?"
