Facilities to Districts & Provinces

The BCCSL is pleased to announce that Infrastructure facilities to certain Districts and Provinces have been provided and are in progress

The BCCSL is pleased to announce that Infrastructure facilities to certain Districts and Provinces have been provided and are in progress. We are pleased to forward you names of the Districts and Provinces to which these facilities have been completed or in progress.
1. Indoor Nets
Kurunegala - Has been completed and is scheduled to be opened in 2-3 weeks
CCC - Has been completed and is scheduled to be opened in 7-8 weeks
Ratnapura - Has been completed and is scheduled to be opened in 7-8 weeks
Chilaw - Has been fully Completed
Badulla - Preliminary discussions with MC Badulla
Kandy - New design in progress
Gampaha - New design in progress

2.Concrete Wickets
140 wickets have been already completed island wide (Provincial vice) and we are in process of constructing another 50 concrete wickets island wide in 2003, and have already placed an order for Astro Carpets to be fixed onto them.

3. Mattings
Schools and districts have benefited by distribution of Mattings annually from 2001. Quota for 2003 has been ordered and shall be distributed by August/ September.

4. Turf Wickets
A few turf wickets have been completed in the out station, District and Provinces.

5. Cricket Materials
Bats, Gloves, Pads and Balls have been distributed to schools that are registered with Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association in 2001 (U-15, U-17 & U-19). In 2002 all Clubs and Association affiliated with BCCSL were offered cricket materials at cost with no profits at all to the BCCSL, but only a handful accepted the offer.
Cricket materials were distributed among the Junior District Coaching Clinics Island wide in 2002.
All schools registered with the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association are being given one dozen cricket balls during the seminars. "Masters in Charge" seminars been conducted at provincial level between August/ September 2003.
Orders have been already placed for cricket materials (2003)

6. Ground Development/ Pavilions & Dressing Rooms
Panadura, Ambalangoda, Kurunegala, Kadolkelle, Kalutara, Chilaw, Moratuwa, Kadirana, Mahara, Radella and Matara

7. Ground equipment
A programe was initiated to supply with ground equipment to representative/ premier venues island wide with outfield cutters, turf cutters, mechanized rollers, pitch covers etc.,
Bush cutters were also supplied among the districts island wide.
8. Gym Equipment
Under the above scheme a set of gym equipment recommended by Mr. Alex Kountouri (former National Physiotherapist) was handed over to Premier clubs who met the required criteria at the time of distribution (SSC, Panadura, Chilaw, Ragama. Tamil Union & Moors).

9. Tournaments (U-15, U-17 & U-19)
The above tournaments were conducted at District/ Provincial Level Island wide from 2001. Even though due to various interim administrations, some of the age group tournaments were hampered. (The media doesn't highlight district/ Provincial tournaments).
