Yuvraj Singh, the Indian middle-order batsman, is struggling to be fit for the World Cup after tearing a ligament in his left knee during the course of the Champions Trophy. He is set to consult Anant Joshi, the Indian board's surgeon, next week for a further assessment.

"My understanding is he will have to undergo surgery as the torn ligament needs to be reconstructed," said Andrew Leipus, the former physio of the national side. "It will be touch and go for the World Cup because of the length of time it takes to recover from such an injury."

Yuvraj suffered the injury during a training session as India were preparing to meet Australia for the Champions Trophy at Mohali.
