West Indies' task of overhauling 281 to secure the series was beyond them once Pollard was seventh out in the 32nd over at 118. But there was some consolation for the home crowd in local boy Sammy's ferocious hitting: his highest score in one-day internationals came off only 50 deliveries and featured six sixes. The half-century came up in just 20 balls, equalling his own West Indian record, set against South Africa two years earlier, as he dominated a stand of 101 from less than ten overs with Russell. Australia's sizeable innings had been built around an opening partnership of 118 between Watson and Warner, then Peter Forrest's measured 53. In spite of Sammy's late bombardment, Australia ensured they retained their unbeaten record in bilateral series against West Indies since a 4-1 defeat in the Caribbean in 1994-95. Narine finished the five-match series with 11 wickets and at an economy-rate of just 3.32. Pollard topped the run-charts with 222, at a strike-rate of nearly 99.
