Pakistan v Australia, 2012

Osman Samiuddin

At Dubai, September 5, 2012 (floodlit). Pakistan won by seven wickets. Toss: Pakistan. Twenty20 international debuts: Nasir Jamshed, Raza Hasan; G. J. Maxwell.

This was one of those nights when Pakistan's Twenty20 attack is the best in the world. Umar Gul was right in rhythm and head, Mohammad Hafeez controlling the rate, Saeed Ajmal on song, and slow left-armer Raza Hasan making a debut that left many wondering why it had not come sooner. Gul trapped Watson early, before his team-mates more than compensated for the absence of the injured Shahid Afridi to rip through a shell-shocked Australian line-up. The result was never really in doubt after that, although Pakistan rarely do comprehensive or crushing, especially against Australia: they lost three needless wickets before Kamran Akmal provided the exclamation mark.

Man of the Match: Mohammad Hafeez.
