If not for injuries, Sophie Molineux would have played much more for Australia. A left-handed batter and left-arm spinner, she can be selected for either discipline although it's her bowling which has taken centrestage at international level.
However, foot and knee injuries kept Molineux out of the Australia side for over two years from 2021 until she returned to face Bangladesh in 2024, although a further knee problem put her out of the 2024-25 Ashes.
Molineux made her Australia debut in March 2018 in a T20I against India, then helped to win the T20 World Cup later that year, and in little more than 12 months had added ODI and Test caps to her name. She was part of the side that won the 2020 T20 World Cup in Australia, claiming the wicket of Smriti Mandhana in the final at the MCG.
Domestically, she captained Melbourne Renegades to their first WBBL title in 2024 and she has also led Victoria since 2022.
