Ganguly and Pathan pile on the agony for Pakistan

Sourav Ganguly and Irfan Pathan led India to an imposing 626 before Pakistan lost one wicket as they reached 86 at stumps

The last time Pakistan played here, Inzamam-ul-Haq's brilliance and Younis Khan's appetite for the long haul shut India out of a Test match. There was perfect symmetry here, only this time they were on the receiving end, with Yuvraj Singh reprising Inzamam's class and Sourav Ganguly batting on and on in the manner that Younis had back in 2005. By the time he was out for 239 on the stroke of tea, India had gone past 600, and thoughts of a series-levelling victory had long since ebbed away from the Pakistan camp. By stumps, they had whittled away 86 from the deficit, losing Yasir Hameed along the way.
Irfan Pathan added a scintillating maiden Test century just for good measure as an attack deprived of Shoaib Akhtar's pace struggled to make any impression. The three-man attack and part-timers toiled away without reward on a pitch where the slightest error was ruthlessly punished. A profusion of half-volleys and half-trackers was served up by bowlers ready for the knackers yard and Ganguly and Pathan cashed in happily during a 178-run partnership that really was the last straw.

Sri Lanka took 4 for 91 in the final session to give them the advantage on the first day against England in Colombo. The home side's fortunes swung dramatically in their favour during the final half-hour of the day when Lasith Malinga ended Alastair Cook's impressive stonewalling on 81 before ripping out Ravi Bopara's middle stump.
The day was not without controversy, however, with yet more fuel to feed that interminable debate over the use of technology in cricket.

New South Wales were denied the chance to end their winless streak, which now sits at 12 straight one-day games, when their clash with South Australia was abandoned without a ball being bowled. The match was to be a treat for Wollongong locals but heavy rain during the week left the ground too wet for any play to be possible.
Although the pitch area was not badly affected, the major concern was a sodden outfield that showed little sign of drying as the day progressed. The umpires waited more than three hours after the scheduled start time before the match was abandoned. The no-result leaves the Blues last on the FR Cup table while the Redbacks are fourth.

Ian Harvey played anchor for nearly the entire innings as Chennai Superstars chased down 147 with one ball to spare against Chandigarh Lions in Panchkula.
Harvey top scored with 48 and batted till the 18th over, but it was the team effort of the Superstars that saw them through in a thrilling run-chase, the highest in the tournament so far. The scores of the other batsmen read 12, 18, 17, 17, 13, 1, 11, with 10 extras, as the required run-rate never climbed over nine an over.

Yuvraj and Ganguly put India on top

Yasir Arafat's three wickets on debut had shaken the Indian innings before lunch, but from 61 for 4, Yuvraj and Ganguly constructed a magnificent run edifice

The Chinnaswamy Stadium has been witness to some exceptional batting down the years, from Sunil Gavaskar's 96 to Michael Clarke's century on debut, via Sachin Tendulkar's destruction of Shane Warne (1998). The last time India played here, Younis Khan's monumental 267 inspired a famous Pakistan triumph but, on Saturday, he could only watch ruefully as Yuvraj Singh and Sourav Ganguly stroked sublime centuries to wrest control of the final Test.
Yasir Arafat's three wickets on debut had shaken the innings to its very foundations before lunch but, from the depths of 61 for 4, Yuvraj and Ganguly constructed a magnificent run edifice. With Shoaib Akhtar off the field after lunch with back spasms, Pakistan's gamble of playing just four specialist bowlers was horribly exposed in the final two sessions.

Bangladesh clinch series with narrow win

All-round heroics from captain Suhrawadi Shuvo and Dolar Mahmud saw Bangladesh Under-19s edge their Pakistani counterparts by two wickets

All-round heroics from captain Suhrawadi Shuvo and Dolar Mahmud saw Bangladesh Under-19 edge their Pakistani counterparts by two wickets in Karachi and clinch the five-ODI series 3-2, one that Pakistan were leading 2-0.
After choosing to bat, Pakistan were rocked by some early blows from the Bangladesh opening bowlers. Mahmud removed the dangerous Ahmed Shehzad for 10 and also took the wicket of Umar Amin, who struggled throughout this series. Rubel Hossain chipped in with two more and when Ali Asad fell to Subashis Roy, Pakistan were tottering at 54 for 5.
Umair Mir and Usman Salahuddin added 63 for the sixth wicket but three strikes from Shuvo, Bangladesh's most effective bowler in the series, saw the Pakistan innings fold for 187. Even that modest total was reached courtesy of a whirlwind cameo from Mohammad Rameez, who made 34 off 21, including two boundaries and a six.

After raking up the highest total of the tournament thus far, Delhi Jets came up with a disciplined bowling performance - led by TP Sudhindra - to complete a 24-run win in Panchkula.
Marvan Atapattu, the Jets captain, opted to bat and they were sailing along at over a run a ball before Nathan Astle struck twice, removing Abbas Ali - who made 25 - and Atapattu. The Jets were at 98 for 5 off 15.3 overs when Paul Nixon joined Dale Benkenstein at the crease, and the two foreign recruits didn't disappoint.

Sluggish West Indies take the series

A dramatic Zimbabwean collapse, triggered by Jerome Taylor's five wickets, and some sloppy fielding from the hosts allowed a depleted yet trigger-happy West Indian line-up to ultimately overhaul a total of 233 and win by five wickets

A dramatic Zimbabwean collapse, triggered by Jerome Taylor's five wickets, and some sloppy fielding from the hosts allowed a depleted yet trigger-happy West Indian line-up to ultimately overhaul a total of 233 and win by five wickets at the Queens Sports Club. Runako Morton and Marlon Samuels kept the fielders interested during chancy half-centuries, but as they had in the morning, Zimbabwe allowed West Indies off the hook during the run-chase as well.
Zimbabwe's day had begun so well, with a splendid record opening stand amid the gloom at Bulawayo, but Taylor's career-best 5 for 48 and a spate of dropped catches helped the tourists wrap up the series with one game to play. Dwayne Bravo, in his second game as captain, sensibly brought a flip-flop affair to an anticlimactic close with an unbeaten 41.

Bangladesh level series despite Asad's century

Suhrawadi Shuvo triggered a late collapse and claimed five of the last six wickets to fall as Bangladesh U-19 successfully defended 233

Suhrawadi Shuvo, the Bangladesh Under-19 captain, triggered a late collapse and claimed five of the last six wickets to fall as his team successfully defended 233 against Pakistan Under-19 to square the five-match ODI series two-all.
After losing their first four wickets with only 49 on the board, Pakistan were within sight of victory at 183 for 4 thanks to a 134-run fifth-wicket partnership between Ali Asad (106) and Umair Mir (64). The collapse - with the home side losing six wickets for 37 runs including the last three for only one run - completed a remarkable comeback by Bangladesh who were precariously placed at 57 for 3 after opting to bat.
Marshall Ayub and Mahmudul Hasan put on 126 for the fifth wicket after Mithun Ali, Bangladesh's opener and wicketkeeper, had scored 33. Ayub hammered 88 runs off 91 balls with five fours and a six while Hasan chipped in with a valuable 44 to enable their team post a respectable total.
