Sarul Kanwar, an opening batsman from Punjab, made a splash in his first domestic season, topping 500 runs in the Ranji Trophy with two first-class centuries. His Twenty20 exploits weren't as impressive, but he still landed an IPL contract with the Mumbai Indians. He didn't get a game in the 2011 IPL, but when an injury-ravaged Mumbai gave him a chance in the Champions League T20, he grabbed it with a quick 45 against Cape Cobras.
