Umpire
Born in Tanzania, Modi played for Kenya in 1969. But his real skill and passion lay in umpiring - a love which continues to this day, in spite of his full-time occupation as consultant for Ogilvy which for 34 years. He has umpired or officiated in the ICC Trophy; the Commonwealth Games in Malaysia in 1998; as fourth umpire in the 1999 World Cup as well as the Champions Trophy in 2000. Active on and off the pitch, Modi has served the Kenya Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association as chairman, secretary and treasurer, the organisation recently awarding him life membership for his sterling services. He has three sons to his wife, Aruna: Deepesh, Nimesh and Hitesh, the Kenya batsman.
