4.1 to D Elgar, strangled down the leg side! 140kph, short, angled down leg at rib height, he tried to glance it fine and it just touched the glove as it flew through to Carey. The keeper took it above his head moving to his right. The skipper goes. Starc edges one closer to 300 Test wickets. 12/1 34.3 to T Bavuma, bowled him off the inside edge! 142kph, perfect line and length, threatening the top of off, he had to defend but wasn't committed on the front foot, Bavuma played for the angle away and it just nibble back a touch off the seam, caught the inside edge and ricocheted onto the top of middle and leg. Excellent delivery. 125/5 40.6 to KA Maharaj, simple, job done, goodbye! Bowled a bouncer to create doubts in his mind and gets him with a full ball. Wicket No. 299 for Starc as he snuffs out Maharaj. This one's full, fast, angles in and straightens a bit as Maharaj's poke flies to Smith who takes a simple catch at second slip.. 135/7 | ||||||||||

9.1 to HE van der Dussen, caught behind! A little scratch to Carey. 135kph good length and line tight to off, he was forced to play but was caught on the crease and squared up, just got a little tickle as it straightened off the seam and it is an easy catch for Carey.. 27/2 48.2 to L Ngidi, straight to gully! Cam Green doesn't miss too many there, or anywhere for that matter. Fast, short and hostile from Cummins, Ngidi is obviously not behind the line, instead looks to arch back and open the face but ends up getting it so high on the bat that the ball lobs gently to the cordon.. 152/10 | ||||||||||

10.4 to SJ Erwee, brilliant gully catch by the big buckets of Cameron Green! Full again, tempting the drive outside off, it seams away a touch, he drives very hard at it and slices a thick edge low to Green's left in the gully and he pouches it diving to his left. That flew quickly. He is so good there.. 27/3 10.6 to K Zondo, struck on the back pad and given! Boland knew, everyone knew....but hang on, Zondo has reviewed. Boland nearly did a Broad as he ran through the length of the pitch before turning back to see the umpire's decision. Ball tracking confirms what the umpire may have thought - hitting the top of the stumps. Zondo was tentative as he pushed back to play this rising delivery but played down the wrong line. 39.5 to M Jansen, what a poor shot that is! Jansen can't resist temptation as he steps out to swing this over long-on but ends up top-edging this slog. It's a swirler that Cam Green is under running back from midwicket. He can see Starc come in from the corner of his eyes, but fortunately for him, he stops. Green has his eyes on the ball all along as it descends. He's running back, which makes it that much harder, but he grabs this cleanly in the end.. 132/6 41.6 to K Verreynne, gets him with a slider. This one's a big wicket too. Verreynne plays for the turn when there's none as the edge is pouched by Smith at slip.. 139/8 45.1 to A Nortje, good catch by Head at silly mid-off! Nortje jabbed at this and the ball lobbed off the glove to Head. It's the bounce that got him that time. He didn't even wait for the umpire's decision.. 145/9 | ||||||||||

Rabada with a brute of a short ball at Warner's arm pit first up, he jumped up to ride it and then took his eye off it, it popped off the sticker of the bat and Zondo leaps up at full stretch above his head and plucks it in the right hand! What a start!. 0/1 33.1 to SM Boland, Boland departs and that's a good finish to the day for South Africa! Length ball, just tailing away from Boland, who searches for it and can only edge it behind to the keeper.. 145/5 48.5 to PJ Cummins, Cummins' uncomfortable three-ball innings ends as he miscues a pull to midwicket. Another short ball, this time around hip-height, Cummins looked to take it on with a swipe, but the top edge led to a skier. Nortje gets under and takes it.. 214/9 50.3 to NM Lyon, Chipped, ballooned actually and mid-off runs in. Slides in and takes it Was a length ball that Lyon tried to drive although the bat face did close, so maybe he was looking to clip it.. 218/10 | ||||||||||

47.6 to MA Starc, Cracker of a follow-through catch from Ngidi! He went low, the ball was ankle-height, hovering low between his feet. He lunged down and clasped it. Easy does it. He is happy as he sits and flicks the ball in the air. It was a fulli ball that Starc drove straight, slightly on the up.. 213/8 | ||||||||||

8.1 to M Labuschagne, edged straight to second slip! Jansen strikes! Fuller length, fourth stump line, it threatened to shape back, Labuschagne had to play but was stuck on the crease, it went straight on with the left arm angle, caught the edge and this carried easily to Elgar. Simple catch. 18/2 39.2 to C Green, edged and caught eventually at slip via two sets of hands! Erwee cleans up Maharaj's error. Full and angled well wide of off, it was a half volley but Green maybe could have had a look, instead he pinned the ears back and thrashed a drive, got a thick edge that flew to Maharaj at third slip, he parries it up and it loops off his hands behind him and Erwee runs from first slip to take the catch. 181/6 39.4 to TM Head, given out caught down the leg side! Head chats with Carey and reviews. Was it glove or shirt? He tried to glance a shorter ball down leg. It definitely hit the shirt but snicko shows a spike when it passes the gloves and then another when it hits the shirt! It stays out. Head falls for 92!. 182/7 | ||||||||||

9.2 to UT Khawaja, caught at third! A seed! 142kph, back of a length and it jags and climbs! Khawaja squared up in defence on the back foot, it flies to third slip and Harmer on as a substitute takes an excellent catch moving to his left. 27/3 32.2 to SPD Smith, Cleans him up with a ripper! Nortje, in the shadow of stumps, breaks through. Is that the opening SA were looking for? Length ball, that shapes into Smith, who looks to defend but the ball slips through bat and pad to leave the stumps in a mess.. 144/4 | ||||||||||

2.5 to HE van der Dussen, Knocked over, 300 for Starc. He is chuffed and is swarmed by team-mates. The crowd cheer! Was a full ball that swung in a bit, decked back off the seam even more sharply after pitching around off. Van der Dussen tried to push it straight. He was trying to play the line, so slightly outside off. That left a gap and the ball made it through. As Kerry O'Keeffe said, it moved like an offcutter. But at the pace of a quick.. 3/2 28.5 to KA Maharaj, Big outside edge, taken! The in-between length ball pitched around fourth and Maharaj pushed at it again. Got a thickish edge, Carey took it to his right. Maharaj reached out this time and looked to push it towards extra. 1.4 to D Elgar, Straight drive beaten, hits pad. That looks out, given! Elgar reviews with three seconds left. It has hit him on the knee-roll of the outside half of the front pad. Elgar tried to push it, not drive as I thought. Just missing the bat. The length ball is straightening a bit, with impact in-line and is clipping middle. Elgar has to go! It was a T20 slot ball but an in-between length in these conditions. It looked to have stayed low on first viewing but Hawk-Eye showed there was more bounce. Australia won't mind as it was predicted to have made contact with the stumps. Elgar smiles in resignation as he leaves. The appeal was strong, Cummins was pumped as he punched the air.. 2/1 7.2 to SJ Erwee, plucked in the gully by Green! Brilliant catch above his head. Short of a length, Erwee shapes to play, it decks across and climbs, he can't get the bat out of the way and it flies off a thick edge quickly to Green and he jumps up at full stretch to pluck it with two hands. That would have cleared every other gully fielder in the world just about.. 5/3 31.5 to K Rabada, caught behind! He nicks this one. Good length, pitching on middle and leg, angling across the left-hander, he tries to defend, gets a healthy edge and Carey moves well today to his left to take the catch.. 69/8 31.6 to A Nortje, caught in the gully! Cummins on a hat-trick! Good length, angled into middle and off but it straightens, he's squared up in defence, gets a thick edge off the shoulder of the bat and it floats to the big buckets of Cameron Green in the gully. 69/9 37.4 to L Ngidi, caught at slip! A brute from Cummins to collect five! Another ball climbing sharply from a length, Ngidi jumps and fends as he rocks his head back and to the left, he gets a thick edge off the shoulder of the bat and it floats to Warner at slip. Easy catch. Warner throws the ball back to the umpire and races off to prepare to bat. 99/10 | ||||||||||

24.2 to K Verreynne, There's the Boland we know, gets an outside edge off Verreynne's bat to Smith at second slip. It was on that in-between length. Pitched around off and deviated away just a little bit. Verreynne's bat pushed just a tad bit. Can't blame him, didn't look like he was reaching out so much as reacting to the slight movement. Bat was slightly in front of the body as it took the edge. Easy catch for Smith by his standards. Warner leapt in great joy, the slips were chuffed as was the bowler.. 48/5 24.4 to M Jansen, Knocks over off, Boland points to the disturbed furniture in celebration! It was a length ball that pitched around middle and seamed away a bit. Jansen looked to play the line with lowish hands. But it hit off, wobbled the stump and the magic is now back!. 48/6 | ||||||||||

23.5 to T Bavuma, LBW given, Bavuma reviews. It was a length ball that pitched just outside off, spun in and stayed a bit low. Bavuma was on the back foot, squared up a bit but that might have been to make space to push it towards mid-on. Nothing on Snicko. Hawk-Eye says it's clipping leg, Bavuma walks. Lyon is subdued with his reaction to the big screen replay confirming the wicket but went down on a knee with enthusiasm with the appeal, which was upheld very quickly.. 47/4 | ||||||||||

Khawaja makes room and looks to carve it, offers a simple catch to Maharaj at point It was a back of length ball that was following Khawaja as he was going further down leg. Opened the face and looked to launch a back-foot square drive. Went into the bread basket.. 8/1 4.4 to DA Warner, Edged and taken by Erwee at third slip! Length ball pitches in line with the stumps and angles away. Warner looks to defend it straight but gets an outside edge. Ball flies, almost to second slip but Erwee leaps to the right and clings on. Warner's bad patch continues.. 9/2 6.3 to SPD Smith, Slashed and it's taken by the keeper! Short and wide, bounced a bit more than Smith expected, took the edge. Verreynne moved across to his right and took it around head-height. Rabada's celebrations are subdued but he does smile having secured a three-for now.. 19/3 6.4 to TM Head, Strangled down leg! Head looks to rise and clip this back-of-length ball fine, as he rotated his wrist. The ball tickled the inside edge and Verreynne took an easier catch this time. 24/4 | ||||||||||
