A hard-hitting batsman, Asad Pathan started his cricket in Ankleshwar, Gujarat and then went to South Africa to play in the Limpopo province for one and half years. He was offered a contract by the Nashua Titans franchise but chose to return to India. He is a Twenty20 specialist and his exploits in the Aurangabad Premier League at DY Patil Stadium in 2010, where in four 15-over matches he scored two hundreds, caught the attention of Royal Challengers Bangalore. He made his IPL debut for them in 2011, where he played six games.
