Sediqullah Atal smashes seven sixes in a 48-run over
In an incredible feat, 21-year-old Sediqullah Atal smashed seven sixes in an over in a Kabul Premier League game between Shaheen Hunters and Abasin Defenders. It was Defenders' left-arm spinner Amir Zazai who was at the wrong end of Atal’s fury as he went for 48 runs in the 19th over of the first innings.
Hunters were on 158 for 6 heading into the 19th over, with captain Atal on 71 off 43. Zazai had bowled three overs for 31 till that point and picked up a wicket. His day was about to go downhill.
Atal smashed the first ball of the over - a no-ball - for a six. Zazai then conceded five wides before Atal latched onto the free hit and sent it for six more. But he wasn’t done yet. Having lined up the bowler, he sent each of the next five balls over the ropes to help his side power past 200. In the process, He also reached his century off just 48 balls.
Zazai finished with figures of 1 for 79. Naveed Zadran conceded seven runs in the final over as Hunters notched up 213 for 6 with Atal unbeaten on a 56-ball 118 with seven fours and ten sixes. In reply, Defenders were cleaned up for 121 in 18.3 overs as Hunters stormed to a 92-run victory.
