The Hundred 2024 news: Rashid Khan out with hamstring injury

Green back in Rockets squad

Rashid Khan has been ruled out of the last week of the Hundred through injury. Rashid dived in an attempt to save a boundary off what proved to be the final ball of Trent Rockets' defeat to Southern Brave on Saturday, and hurt his hamstring in the process.
Chris Green, who played in the Rockets' win at Headingley in their opening game, has replaced him in the squad for their final two group games. Imad Wasim also went off injured during the Rockets' loss at the Utilita Bowl, but is still with the squad ahead of Monday night's game against Birmingham Phoenix at Edgbaston.

Finn Allen ruled out through injury

Finn Allen has been ruled out of the Hundred after picking up a toe injury during the final of Major League Cricket.
Allen was due to play for Southern Brave and travelled to Southampton from Dallas after MLC but went for a scan before their game against Manchester Originals and will not be fit enough to play any part. It is understood that he was diagnosed with a stress fracture on one of his toes.
He has been replaced by Andre Fletcher, the West Indies keeper-batter, who will be playing in the Hundred for the first time.
Elsewhere, Jason Roy has been ruled out of the Hundred due to a shoulder injury he picked up at MLC. “Gutted to say the least,” he wrote on Instagram. “Was incredibly excited for the tournament but unfortunately an awkward dive whilst fielding in America ruined that for me.”

Jennings replaces Crawley

London Spirit have drafted in Lancashire's Keaton Jennings for the rest of the tournament as an injury replacement for Zak Crawley.
Crawley suffered a fractured finger playing for England in the third Test against West Indies at Edgbaston. Although a full prognosis has not been released, Crawley will miss the Hundred and could be a doubt for the first Test against Sri Lanka starting on August 21.
Jennings has never played in the Hundred before but has been in good form for Lancashire. He was their top-scorer in the Blast as they qualified for the knockout stage and made a hundred in his second One-Day Cup appearance on Sunday.

Buttler yet to be replaced amid injury scare

Manchester Originals have been lining up potential replacements for Jos Buttler but are awaiting the results of a scan before ruling him out of the competition.
Buttler injured his calf while preparing for the Hundred and Phil Salt deputised as Originals captain in their opening match against Welsh Fire on Thursday night. "At present, [Buttler] is still in the competition and has not yet been replaced," a Hundred spokesperson said.
"He's a miss, Jos, there's no question about it," Salt said at the toss on Thursday.

Superchargers bring Ingram in

Colin Ingram has been brought into the Northern Superchargers squad for their opening fixture against Trent Rockets on Friday night. The Superchargers are yet to confirm who Ingram is replacing, but Nicholas Pooran is expected to be unavailable while at Major League Cricket.

Green, Little provide MLC cover

Chris Green has signed for Trent Rockets as short-term cover while Rashid Khan is at Major League Cricket. Josh Little will also replace Haris Rauf at Welsh Fire for their opening match, with Haris Rauf also at MLC.

Schutt joins Invincibles

Megan Schutt was initially announced as a replacement signing for London Spirit last week by Cricket Australia, but has in fact joined Oval Invincibles after Tash Farrant's withdrawal through injury.
It means the Invincibles will have four overseas players in their women's squad, with only three eligible to feature in their playing XI at any one time. The others are Amanda-Jade Wellington, Marizanne Kapp and Chamari Athapaththu - who will be replaced by Laura Harris in the first week of the Hundred due to her Asia Cup commitments.

Short leaves MLC early for Hundred

Matthew Short is expected to captain Northern Superchargers in their first two games after leaving Major League Cricket early. Short has been playing for San Francisco Unicorns but has left the US before the play-offs and will be available for Superchargers' opening match on Friday night.
Harry Brook is due to captain the Superchargers this season but will miss the start of their campaign to play in England's third Test against West Indies.
Graham Manou, the Unicorns' general manager of high performance, confirmed Short's early departure on Monday. "The nature of T20 tournaments is that we have to act on the fly to injuries and player availability," he said.

Dwarshuis, Brown sign for Superchargers

Northern Superchargers have brought in two fast bowlers as cover for their opening fixtures, with Ben Dwarshuis and Pat Brown signing as temporary replacements for Ben Stokes and Harry Brook respectively while they are with England's Test squad.
Dwarshuis is available for Superchargers' first four games and Brown for their first two. The ECB have changed the regulations around overseas players this year, allowing teams to sign a fourth overseas player on a short-term contract as cover for a centrally-contracted England Test player. They are still only allowed to field three overseas players in their XI.
The Superchargers men's squad looks depleted ahead of their opening fixture at home to Trent Rockets on Friday night. Stokes, Brook, Matthew Potts and Dillon Pennington are with England's Test squad; Nicholas Pooran, Mitchell Santner and Jason Roy have been playing Major League Cricket; and Adam Hose and Reece Topley are both injury doubts.
However, Roy's LA Knight Riders have been eliminated, suggesting he will be available on Friday, while at least one of Potts and Pennington is likely to be released to play after going unselected for England's the third Test against West Indies.

Hughes replaces Allen at Brave

Southern Brave have signed Daniel Hughes, the Australian batter, as a short-term replacement for the start of the Hundred.
Finn Allen is unavailable for their opening match against London Spirit on Wednesday after San Francisco Unicorns qualified for the play-offs of Major League Cricket, and Hughes will replace him.
Brave’s two other men’s overseas players – Akeal Hosein (Washington Freedom) and Kieron Pollard (MI New York) – are also set to miss their opening match due to a clash with MLC, though neither has been officially replaced.
Hughes, a two-time Big Bash winner with Sydney Sixers, has spent the last two months playing for Sussex and is the leading run-scorer in the T20 Blast this season.
