Born in Fiji, Neil Maxwell represented Australia Under-19s as an allrounder - he made 133 batting at No. 7 against New Zealand in 1985-86 - and in 1988 spent a summer on the MCC groundstaff at Lord's. In 1990 he represented Fiji in the ICC Trophy, going on to play for them at the 1997, 2001 and 2005 tournaments - his return of 5 for 10 against Singapore in 2001 remains a record for Fiji. Although he played for New South Wales 2nd XI, his first-class debut came for Victoria in 1991-92, but after two seasons he returned to NSW where he was a regular in the side for three years. He finished his senior career with a season in New Zealand. Maxwell currently works as an agent for several players including Brett Lee, and is also CEO of a marketing firm. He was for a time CEO of the Kings XI Punjab IPL franchise, and was involved with the establishment of a Twenty20 league in the USA.
