Wicketkeeper batter

A wicketkeeper-batsman, for whom the term batsman-wicketkeeper might more accurately apply, Beth Mooney made her debut for the Queensland Fire as a 16-year-old in 2009-10; her breakthrough season at domestic level coming in 2012-13, when she averaged 44 for the Fire, including four half-centuries.

In 2015 she joined Yorkshire as their overseas player, averaging 32 with a top score of 69 versus Middlesex at Harrogate, as well as contributing 15 dismissals behind the stumps, as the White Roses powered to the County Championship title.

Back home in Australia, she had an impressive first season for the Brisbane Heat in the inaugural Women's Big Bash League - ending the semester as the tournament's 5th highest run scorer, with 400 runs at a Strike Rate of 104.

An injury to Southern Stars wicket keeper Alyssa Healy provided Mooney with her first international opportunity in January 2016 against India in a T20; and just weeks later she made a debut half-century in her 1st ODI, scoring 53 as she opened the batting in a losing cause versus New Zealand at Mount Maunganui.

Healy returned for the Women's World T20 in India later in 2016, but Mooney had done enough to retain her place, though she was relegated down the order into a pure batting role, and had just two opportunities in the tournament, scoring 15* in the loss to New Zealand and 1* in the semi-final victory over England.
