Charles Newhall was the longest lived of four brothers who were instrumental in the development of cricket in Philadelphia after the Civil War, establishing the foundation for the glory years of the game around the turn of the century. Considered by contemporaries to be the fastest bowler of his time in the USA, he toured in 1884.
