Richa Ghosh has made a name for herself as one of the most explosive batters in the women's game. She's taken up a role and made it hers in India's white-ball setup - a finisher who keeps wicket.

As a four-year-old, Ghosh used to accompany her father, Manabendra, to club matches. Not long after that, she joined the club her father played for. With Siliguri district in West Bengal not having a girls' team then, Ghosh honed her skills playing with the boys. One of the things that was evident immediately was that she did not fear facing fast bowlers in the club.

A natural with the bat, Ghosh was a more-than-handy seam bowler in her formative years. At 14, she made her debut for Bengal's senior women's team and developed into one of their premier batters. With more established wicketkeepers around in Bengal's cricket circuit, it was not until she became an India regular that she really developed as a wicketkeeper for the state team.

When only 16, Ghosh was the only uncapped player in India's squad for the T20 World Cup 2020. A couple of useful knocks in the T20 Challenger Trophy following a stellar domestic season helped her move up the ladder.

Despite playing a senior T20 World Cup and an ODI World Cup by then, Ghosh was part of the inaugural Under-19 women's T20 World Cup in 2023. Later that year, Royal Challengers Bengaluru picked her at the inaugural WPL auction and she played a starring role to win them their first title in WPL 2024. Ghosh has also played for Hobart Hurricanes in the WBBL and for London Spirit and Birmingham Phoenix in the women's Hundred.
