12.30pm And that's it from all of us. Hope you've enjoyed following our updates. Until next time, it's goodbye from me, Gopi and Sanjay.

Joel: "Australia 8 for 820, New Zealand 20 for 612. Pretty much explains it. Australia were able to take wickets, New Zealand were not."

Benno: "Disappointed. Disappointed in the umpiring decisions, disappointed in the lack of fight from kiwis today, disappointed in Baz, Neesh, and for the first time BJ. They obviously learnt nothing from the first test in England this year where they batted with equal bravado and no common sense. The lost that test, but had they batted with more sense, they needed only to survive a few more overs before the rains hit. Might have been a tall order to survive this test, but at least make the Aussies work for it. Make them sweat. After Kane's wicket yesterday the Aussies knew it was all just a matter of time. "

Shaun: "@John, at least your child won't be named "intermittent showers""

Adwait: "If John goes with Mitchell as his son's name, the boy would then be Mitchell, John's son."

Steven Smith: "Davy Warner and Joe Burns really set the tone in the first morning. Was hard work, a bit tacky, and they got through that first hour and set it up for us. Wasn't so much nervous, mostly excitement [to take over as full-time captain]. It's a big responsibility and challenge, and it's great to lead such a young team full of energy. Joe Burns was exceptional, and Usman Khawaja back as well. Their first Test hundreds, it's very exciting for us for the future. To be 1-0 up in a three-match series is crucial. I'm really satisfied, but we have a few things to work on, our new-ball bowling, we could hit our lengths better. Two hundreds in a match for the third time [for Warner] and that's an amazing achievement."

David Warner is the man of the match: "Good to put a nice performance on the board. There wasn't much for the bowlers. It was a great win and we now have to move on to Perth. I was looking back with some disappointment to England. I only got a couple of fifties in the second innings in England, was disappointing not to score in the first innings. The way [Joe Burns] came out and played his shots - we know how he plays, as the Australian unit, and now the world knows. So happy for [Khawaja] to move to Queensland, find a new home, and come back from injury and do so well."

Brendon McCullum: "Nigel Llong and Richard Illingworth are two of the best umpires in the world," he says, when asked about DRS and the decision against him, and refuses to criticise the umpires. "We lost by 200 and something odd runs, and Australia deserved to win. I hope [Tim Southee] will be fit. The fact that he didn't bowl the last couple of days, we hope he'll be fit for the next Test match. We've achieved some pretty special things of late, and we need something special to come back from this as well."

Aidan: "As an Australian I seriously think Williamson deserves man of the match. Stood miles above the rest of NZ against a much harder attack than Warner/Burns/Khawaja faced, and he's won the hearts of most Australians I've met."

Scuderi: "John should drop 'Mark Craig' and go with Mitchell."

Jeremy from mel: "To John who's awaiting the birth of his child. A better name might be "Nick Behind""

12.13pm Only rain, realistically, stood between Australia and a win after they declared 503 ahead, with two days to go. The weather frustrated them yesterday, as did New Zealand's top order of Latham, Guptill and Williamson. Some resistance today too, with McCullum making a typically aggressive half-century, but the bowlers have found a way through the New Zealand line-up to wrap up a massive win, by 208 runs. Australia's bowlers found ways to take wickets on this pitch. New Zealand's bowlers did not. That was the difference.
