9:45pm And that is all from our coverage. Have a good night!

Kane Williamson: Very good performance. The bowlers set the tone first up and we continued. They batted a long way down and made life difficult. Then Martin with the hundred and good contributions from the rest. We were good in the field, hope we back that up. [Starting a new series] is just going back to basics and today was a good example of that.

Mashrafe Mortaza: Struggled with the bat, lost too many wickets at the start. Can't make excuses. We need [at least] a week to get used to the conditions, but I don't want to give excuses. Need to work on our batting.

Martin Guptill: Good to see the guys restrict Bangladesh. It is nice to see the boys home. Time off [coz of back injury] helps - sometimes yes, sometimes no. Happy to get some runs.

Martin Guptill is Man of the Match.

9:30pm A win and a chance to be back in bed at a reasonable hour at last. New Zealand ticked most boxes today, most importantly runs from their openers. They were both in it. Nicholls using the relative non-pressure of a slender chase to get himself a half-century in what is still a new role for him. And Guptill finally getting past the teens to notch up a hundred AND finish the innings with it. Williamson's cheap dismissal possibly the only worry for New Zealand today, who also got in good game time for all players involved. Solid from the home team. Bangladesh had to deal with what a lot of subcontinental sides face when they don't get practice games ahead of overseas tours. A bit of T20 hangover too, perhaps, coming in straight from the BPL. Couldn't deal with the swinging ball, couldn't do a lot when the ball stopped swinging either. Some injudicious shots today from their batsmen and they were only in this vaguely.

sliced to the extra cover boundary. He was deceived there, but it's safe in the end. Full offcutter wide outside off. Reaches out and looks to carve it over mid-off, seemingly. But the bat turns in his hands as he's too early on this
