1.5 to HH Gibbs, South African to South African. Timbahhhh. Gibbs clears his front leg to try and upper-cut, but the ball is not short enough, and he plays it on. Has somebody said something to Gibbs on the way? Gibbs doesn't look impressed as he walks off, and is forever looking back at the Daredevils huddle. 11/1 16.1 to L Ronchi, and he strikes first ball. Ronchi makes room to try to hit it over cover, but Morne's extra bounce takes it straight to third man where Agarkar takes a safe catch. Ajit can do no wrong today. 99/4 18.1 to MR Marsh, slower ball, length ball, Marsh wants to hit a six, but he is too early into the shot. He has skied this and Pietersen has ages in which to move from long-on and settle under it at cow corner. Never looks like dropping, and he doesn't. KP wants a high high-five from Morkel like the big fast men from West Indies used to. 112/5

12.6 to SE Marsh, short again, but this is the skiddier delivery, and Marsh is clearly late into the pull. All he manages to do is find midwicket on the ring. 84/2 14.1 to SM Katich, Now Katich falls in the 30s after having gone at around a run a ball. This is going to hurt Scorchers. Agarkar is the man building the pressure and then reaping the rewards. Short of a length, no room, katich manages just a limp inside-out drive. Jayawardene at short cover dives to his right to take a low catch. 87/3

15.1 to IK Pathan, and he has half made up for it. Starts the spell with a slower ball, and Pathan has softly lobbed it to straight midwicket. Rimmington is not celebrating too much. Rather he is apologising to his mates for the drop off the previous ball. 94/5 15.4 to V Sehwag, Rimmington seems to have made up now. And it takes a terrific catch from new-ball partner Mennie to do it for Rimmington. Nothing special about the delivery. On a length, outside off, Sehwag slashes it powerfully and flat, but he finds sweeper-cover, Mennie, who holds on. 96/6

1.4 to DPMD Jayawardene, that's a return gift if ever there was one. A gentle length ball into the pads with four for the taking, but he has flicked it straight down the lap of Beer at short fine leg. 10/1 3.6 to UBT Chand, Mennie has bowled an over full of discipline, and is rewarded with the last ball. Short of a length, just outside off, Chand wants to punch it, but all he manages is an edge through to the keeper. 22/2

17.4 to NV Ojha, oh you can't not give this one. Justice delivered for Scorchers. CN is bowling a dream over. Digs this in short of a length, gets it to bounce big, too good for Ojha, who gets a thick edge through to the keeper. Well well well, the batsman is not walking off. That's because they are checking replays to make sure it's not a no-ball. Umpires think he is fine, the Delhi dugout think his back foot has cut the side crease. They are still remonstrating, and the fourth umpire is explaining the decision to them. We haven't seen the replays yet. Advertisers need to be kept happy, you know. Finally, a replay some five minutes later. And I can tell you, it was a no-ball, and should have been followed by a free hit. His back foot touched the side line. Marais Erasmus is the third umpire. 104/7

7.4 to KP Pietersen, oh KP. Left-arm slow it is again. I wonder why regular bowlers don't start bowling slow left-arm to him. He has been looking good so far, but for some reason tries all kinds of shots against the left-armer. Perhaps he goes out of the way to try to dominate them so he can tell the world SLA doesn't bother him. Down the wicket, nowhere near the pitch of the ball, and manages just a thick edge to short third man. 45/3 9.5 to LRPL Taylor, Beer orders a repeat. This time it is Taylor, and it's a good delivery, the arm ball. Pitches short of a length, just outside off, Taylor plays for the turn, but it goes straight on to beat the inside edge. Hits him high on the pad. Asad Rauf takes his time before raising the finger. 60/4 |
