For the second day in succession, the outfield at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium took a pounding from the overnight rain. The umpires inspected the outfield at 12.30pm, three hours after the scheduled start before calling off play for the day. Only two hours of play were possible yesterday before bad light curtailed proceedings, with Australia A at 82 for 3.
The conditions were overcast for most of the morning and that didn't help dry out the excess water underneath the surface of the outfield. Though there were no visible puddles, walking around the outfield felt like walking on slush. The players reached the venue shortly before noon but had to settle for fielding practice. After returning to the hotel, the Uttar Pradesh contingent of the Indian team trooped off to watch a movie.
