Stars won by 4 wickets (with 5 balls remaining)
A hard fought 4 wicket win for the Stars with a number of vital contributions with the bat allowing them to get acorss the line with five cherries remaining.
Quiney's innings of 35 off 31 was a mixed affair but vital nonetheless and Brad Hodge was typically dashing through the off side during his knock of 34 off 30.
Ben Laughlin and Doug Bollinger bowled with a lot of heart for the Hurricanes but, in the end, they were perhaps 10 runs short of a match-winning total.
Tim Paine's game-high 46 at a run-a-ball allowed the 'Canes to post a competitive total but he got out just when he was looking to launch - the third wicket to the impressive Clint McKay.
Malinga and Faulkner claimed two wickets each and the Sri Lankan mystery man cleaned up to more hapless victims.
That victory takes the Stars to equal top of the table with fellow Victorians, the Renegades, with two wins.
Clint McKay is named MOM for his three wickets. Despite the result, Benny Laughlin can count himself very unlucky as he was absolutely outstanding with the ball.
