Scorchers vs Stars, at Perth, Dec 12 2012 - Match Result
The rain has stopped and we've got a game! Its a five over game, so just three to go. The Stars will be confident about getting the win now
And it is pouring at the WACA! All of a sudden and the players run for shelter. This would be a tragedy for the Stars if it's washed out. Remember we need five overs for a game. We'll keep you up to date with the weather.
Update 7.15pm local time :The rain is still coming down here. We need five overs to constitute a match and we've got about 45 minutes to get them in. Stay tuned for more updates
So a strange finish to this game, after the rain delay, the target was revised to 6! and the game was over!
Despite the finish, the Stars absolutely deserved to win the game after a dominant display from Man of the Match Lasith Malinga - 6 for 7 off 4 overs. A stunning bowling spell from one of the most dangerous quicks in the world.
Thanks for your company tonight, good night.
great drive, but the fielder gets a foot on it!
swinging like a rusty gate, gets a big inside edge through square leg
BANG! Full on off, smashed high over long off, great shot
The Stars clearly want this match over quickly
half volley and he smashes it straight down the ground, great shot
money for jam there, full outside off and smashed through cover
full and he gets a huge leading edge, lands just short of third man, very lucky
bouncer down leg, the keeper can't quite reach it, costly
short and wide, cut uppishly through point, just over Gibbs' head
back of a length and he awkwardly defends to the leg side
The Scorchers need everything to go right to win, that didn't help
dropped! Full and hist very hard to cover, but Katich gets to it and drops it when his elbows hit the ground
back of a length, rises sharply and hits him on the gloves
inside edge to square leg
The end of a bitterly disappointing performance by the Scorchers, but an incredible bowling performance by Lasith Malinga - his 6 for 7 the second best T20 figures in history.
Join me, Andrew Fuss, again in about 10 minutes for the run chase, where the Stars will be hoping to wrap this up quickly.
Match State: Innings Break
that's it! Back of a length, cut straight to gully
half shout for LBW, straying down leg
back of a length and beats the edge
pulled to fine leg
driven through point
left alone outside off
Malinga's figures of 6 for 7 are the second best figures of all time in T20 behind Arul Suppiah's 6 for 5 for Somerset in England.
