skips down the track and swings big for a heave over the leg side. But the ball drifts into him and has him beaten
Strikers vs Thunder, 20th Match at Sydney, Jan 07 2018 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Alright then, that brings us to the end of this match. We'll be back tomorrow's double-header with Hobart Hurricanes facing Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers taking on the Melbourne Renegades. Meanwhile, the rain has eased in Cape Town after wiping out the first session of day three in the first South Africa-India Test. If you're eager for a start, switch tabs. From here, goodbye!
10.15pm A convincing victory for the Strikers. Never allowed the Thunder to be in the chase. So Strikers go top of the table now. Their net run rate is well ahead of everyone else. The Thunder failed to inspire in the chase. Not once did they look like they'd get anywhere near. And they slackened late with the ball as well, allowing vital late runs which shored up the Strikers total.
"I think we bowled exceptionally today and the batters scrambled to put up a score," Strikers captain Travis Head says. Rashid Khan has been terrific for us, he seems to be enjoying his time in Australia. We haven't clicked as a batting unit. The guys have been training hard, but we just haven't been able to put up runs on the board. We're yet to play the Renegades, and they've been fantastic. The Scorchers are tough to beat as well."
dipping full toss on off, punched back to Siddle
Steve: "Watching the Thunder chase any total is like watching a wounded giraffe chase a Ferrari - painful."
tries a reverse sweep for a full toss and the ball goes to short third man off the pad. And he's been hit plumb in front of middle and off
walks across and swings for a big heave. Slower ball. Beats him
edged and gone. Doesn't get behind the line. Just clears the front leg and swipes hard at a short of a length ball that's angled across him. Nicked off to the keeper
short of good length, gets a bottom edge into the ground as he tries to pull
tries to heave it over and gets a leading edge that lands short of the man running in from sweeper cover
ah, a tame dismissal next ball. That should be the game now. A low full toss, absolutely no pace, tries to heave and chips it to deep midwicket
slower full ball, well outside off, picked early and heaved over cow corner. Late fightback, but is this going to be enough?
lucky to get a wicket here. They continue feeding to Rohrer's strengths. Once again a wide half-volley, well within his arc and Rohrer thumps it straight down. But Laughlin takes a superb catch, runs to his right from long-on and gets behind the line perfectly to grab it
short of a length, slower, drags a mistimed pull to long-on
full, pushed across outside off, drilled past a jumping non-striker to long-off
another shortish ball, doesn't latch onto the pull this time as the ball goes on the bounce to deep square leg
that has been absolutely smoked. Tremendous power. Wide fuller ball, hammered over mid-off and a couple of bounces over the ropes this time
a hat-trick of sixes! Can the Thunder still get back into this? Full and angling into him. helps it on its way over backward square leg with a well-timed flick
full, in his swinging arc as it's pushed across his off-stump. Stays leg side of it and launches it over long-on
short ball again, sitting up nicely and Rohrer swivels around and pulls it well over deep square leg
short ball, drifts away outside off and beats the pull
short of a length ball, a little turn around off, drilled back
spinning in from a length, tries to make room and knocks it to point
