6.40pm: While the teams warm up, remember that there's an ODI for you to follow live here between Bangladesh and West Indies. And if you're one of the few people yet to read all the fall-out from India's chase at the Gabba yesterday, head to our series page for a browse.
McCarthy: "Stars have dominated this fixture batting second recently. Did Maxwell made err when making his decision?" -- I'm sure a few Renegades fans would point you in the direction of the 2018-19 final, McCarthy. But they've been terrible batting second this season, and the Stars have been pretty good when batting first.
Mustafa Moudi: "Both The Skippers might be Waiting for the IPL News as both of them face the danger of getting released by the respective Franchises !!" -- I'd have thought they'll both be straight out of the door, MM. But the way it usually works with these two, a couple of big innings straight before the auction will get them another 5+ crore at the auction...
Shaun: "What on earth is going on over at the 'Gades? Did they go for extreme sports or something? Players going down one by one."
More bad news for the Renegades: Kane Richardson will miss the remainder of the BBL season owing to a 1-2 week quad strain.
Melbourne Stars: 1 Marcus Stoinis, 2 Andre Fletcher, 3 Nick Larkin, 4 Glenn Maxwell (captain), 5 Nic Maddinson, 6 Hilton Cartwright, 7 Seb Gotch (wk), 8 Nathan Coulter-Nile, 9 Liam Hatcher, 10 Adam Zampa, 11 Zahir Khan
X-factor subs: Billy Stanlake, Jimmy Seymour
Melbourne Renegades: Aaron Finch (captain), Shaun Marsh, Sam Harper (wk), Jake Fraser-McGurk, Mackenzie Harvey, Beau Webster, Imad Wasim, Jack Prestwidge, Josh Lalor, Zak Evans, Peter Hatzoglou
X-factor subs: Will Sutherland, Brody Couch
6.32pm: The Stars have won the flip and will bat first
If you're wondering what to do with your fantasy team, have no fear: we've prepared a handy guide for you here.
Some availability news for you, with the bat flip not far away. Nathan Coulter-Nile returns for the Stars following a calf strain, which is a massive boost for them. They have struggled to balance the side in his absence, so he is expected to come straight back in, most likely at No. 7 or 8. For the Renegades, Noor Ahmad is out with a side strain and will miss the rest of the competition, while Rilee Rossouw (hamstring) is now officially out for the season. That means Imad Wasim is their only available overseas player.
6.25pm: Hello everyone, and welcome to ESPNcricinfo's live coverage of the second consecutive Melbourne derby in the BBL. After 359 days on the road, the Renegades are back at Marvel Stadium - though I'm sure it wasn't in their plan to be clinging on by a thread in the playoff race by the time they got here. Last time out, it was the Stars who came out on top, thanks in no small part to Liam Hatcher and Zahir Khan's efforts with the ball.
